During Teacher Appreciation Week, my heart overflows with gratitude for those who have shaped, guided, and uplifted me on my journey through yoga. Since first stepping onto the mat in my twenties, yoga has evolved into more than a practice of movement and breath. As I crossed the threshold into my 50s, it has become a path of transformation, self-discovery, and deep connection.
Today, I pause to honor every teacher, practitioner, and mentor who has offered their knowledge, presence, and patience. Whether it was a verbal cue that unlocked a pose, a gentle adjustment that realigned more than just my body, or a philosophy shared that stayed with me — each moment has connected a dot in my journey.
To my first teacher - Thank you for showing me that yoga begins exactly where you are. You taught me to be kind to myself, to stand in my personal power, to find strength in hard moments, and to push myself in ways I didn't know were possible. To the seasoned practitioners beside me - Your dedication, support and kind words inspired me to persevere when things got hard.
You reminded me that strength is found in showing up — even on the tough days. To my mentors & teachers - Your belief in me turned curiosity into purpose. You saw the teacher in me before I did, and your support gave me the courage to step into that role with joy and authenticity.
Now, as a yoga teacher, I strive to reflect the same empowerment, support, and inclusivity I’ve been fortunate to receive. Every time I guide a grounding breath or witness someone find their strength in a pose, I feel the echo of your teachings.
Yoga is a shared journey. Though the mat is a personal space, the community we cultivate through practice is what truly sustains it. So, this week—and always—I honor each of you who’ve helped me grow in balance, in strength, and in heart.
